This house caught my eye on Dezeen this week:

Sunflower House by Cadaval & Solà-Morales

Moreover it was more one of the comments:

“The outside is a lot more striking than the inside.”

And it got me thinking that sometimes when you have such majestic scenery it’s more important for the eye to be taken towards the view than the architecture.

We did precisely the same on a house extension in County Clare a while back, where we created an inverted, gull-wing, De Lorean style roof that took your eye down and then up and outwards to the sea:

Architecture is about the experience of being within a building and sometimes the experience needs to lead you and your eye to what’s beyond.
