I wrote THIS POST 5 years ago on what CPD is about and today (in a new initiative); the RIAI are awarding architects who meet their CPD requirements with a new certificate:

I love my CPD and I enjoy learning and now I get a new certificate too!

ps who knows I might even do a Phd sometime!
