What an incredible journey it’s been since we left the UK in 2002 to come to Ireland.
Becoming a lecturer in the Architect Department in Sligo has been the best bit of this journey.
It started in 2013 when I visited what was then the RIBA Part I Architecture course in what was IT Sligo. You can read the very first post (of many to follow) HERE…
Here are a few other key posts (of MANY! on IT Sligo & ATU):
First guest lecturer/tutor in 2016
The start of the RIAI Accreditation process in 2019 where I was at the beginning…
So yesterday was a momentous day in this journey where the first cohorts (in the provisionally accredited RIAI programme) graduated after 5 years and a year out in the Bachelor of Architecture Programme. This was celebrated in a showcase of all the work from 1st to 5th year yesterday.
The exhbition continues today and next Monday – so see it while you can! Details in the image:
So now a great summer break and start again for 2024-2025 (I’ll be with Year 2 students in Design Studio and Professional Studies for Years 2, 3 & 5)
ps A special thanks to all my colleagues who have now become friends – I love you all. A special mention to Bernadette Donohue (Architecture Director of Accreditation) who got me that first hour of teaching.
