Yesterday evening I met up with my Mayo Architect colleagues to see a private screening of the 1949 film ‘The Fountainhead’ starring Gary Cooper as Howard Roark, the “uncompromising, visionary architect struggling to maintain his integrity and individualism despite personal, professional and economic pressures to conform to popular standards.”. A most entertaining evening was had by all.

For those unfamiliar with the film (or the novel it comes from) HERE is the IMDB information.

So is Howard Roark the greatest fictional architect on screen? Well it’s touch and go with THIS POST I wrote in 2011 on funnily enough my favourite fictional architect and house in the film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s ‘Endless Night’

ps You can tell it’s getting closer to Christmas when the posts get less serious
