{"id":509,"date":"2010-10-09T21:07:54","date_gmt":"2010-10-09T21:07:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/markstephensarchitects.com\/?p=509"},"modified":"2010-10-09T21:07:54","modified_gmt":"2010-10-09T21:07:54","slug":"our-underground-grass-roof-house-on-rte-about-the-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.markstephensarchitects.com\/our-underground-grass-roof-house-on-rte-about-the-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Our underground \/ grass roof house on RTE&#8217; About The House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finally I have got round to ripping the DVD and uploading the clip of me and our house on RTE&#8217;s &#8216;About The House&#8217; from 2007; actually I bribed my 15 year old with \u20ac10 to get the job done (so thanks Conor).<\/p>\n<p>So here it is, broadcast in November as Programme 8 in 2007 of Irelands premier property series presented by Architect Duncan Stewart, it&#8217;s me and Angie taking a guided walk around our own unique, underground house in County Mayo, Ireland.<\/p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/h4HO0aG-rBA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<p>The archived RTE web site from the programme can be viewed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rte.ie\/tv\/aboutthehouse\/20071113.html\">HERE<\/a> and the main About The House site index can be seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rte.ie\/tv\/aboutthehouse\/index.html\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fascinating to see this clip again as it&#8217;s been at the bottom of the DVD pile for a while; what&#8217;s particularly interesting is remembering the rush at getting things moderately ready for the TV crew when the house wasn&#8217;t even finished &#8211; my 2nd son looks so young, there&#8217;s sections of skirting missing and the mess at the back ! There&#8217;s a lot that I&#8217;d do differently and I&#8217;ve learnt a lot in the years since the programme aired.
