I don’t think there’s much better for an architect to see a project that you thought would never happen finally get started.<\/p>\n
This is the case with the lighthouse keeper’s cottage at Ballyglass, County Mayo.<\/p>\n
Exactly 14 years after first being contacted by the owner. The cottage is finally getting some critical restoration work undertaken to save the building from further ruin.<\/p>\n
The project is an exercise in historical restoration where after extensive research and analysis the key works will be including:<\/p>\n
The idea is to weathertight the building to stop any further dereliction. Watch this space for why this work is being undertaken, hush hush.<\/p>\n
