If you&#8217;ve missed them, here they are:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/markstephensarchitects.com\/2011\/11\/11\/i-demand-an-effective-building-control-now-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\">I demand and effective Building Control Poll<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/markstephensarchitects.com\/2011\/10\/17\/misconceptions-regarding-planning-building-regulationscontrol-priory-court\/\" target=\"_blank\">Misconceptions regarding Planning, Building Regulations\/Control &amp; Priory Court<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/markstephensarchitects.com\/2011\/10\/19\/planningbuilding-regulationscontrol-priory-hall-contd\/\" target=\"_blank\">Planning,Building Regulations\/Control &amp; Priory Hall contd\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well it looks as if Ireland may get a better Building Control system. It&#8217;s not that the Building Regulations are poor (they are in many ways better than the UK if not Europe), the problem is with ensuring compliance.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re only in draft form at the moment and they&#8217;re a consultation document for public consultation which closes on the 24th May 2012.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.environ.ie\/en\/Legislation\/DevelopmentandHousing\/BuildingStandards\/FileDownLoad,29907,en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to view the Draft Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2012 (pdf, 163kb)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In summary, the draft regulations propose the following:<\/p>\n<p>1. Building Regulation Compliant drawings &amp; documentation to be lodged at same time as Building Commencement Notice<\/p>\n<p>2. The client\/building owner must appoint an \u201cassigned\u201d professional, at the above stage, to inspect and certify, at Completion Stage, that the building fully complies with the Building Regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The list of \u201cassigned\u201d professionals includes (currently) registered architects, registered building surveyors or a chartered engineers.<\/p>\n<p>3. The \u201cassigned\u201d professional doesn&#8217;t have to be the person submitting the compliance documentation at Commencement Stage, but the documentation\/certification\/inspection on completion must be by an \u201cassigned\u201d professional.<\/p>\n<p>4.
