A positive approach for architects to go forward~Educating the client

I recently tweeted that an Irish Architect should answer to the question “How much are the drawings for planning permission” should be:

“Is it a planning permission you’re after or do you want to build your dream house ?”

After a series of blogging rants and the excellent ‘Ask the Architect’ session last week (click HERE for more information on Ask the Architect); I’ve decided to think positively and think of things I (and other architects (Irish being the most appropriate)) can do to go forward and explain the benefits that a registered architect can bring to your project.

With that in mind, step 1 is to educate the client. There’s a big misconception in Ireland that the planning permission drawings should also be used for construction, this is a complete falacy.

The document below explains the different requirements of planning drawings vs those required for Building Regulation purposes.
