Advice Note Number 6 – Airtight Cavity Masonry Construction (thanks again to @ecologicalbuild )

This follows quickly on from the Advice Note #5 on roof insulation and ventilation and deals with achieving airtightness with a masonry, cavity construction. There are stacks of disclaimers on the advice note as this deals with the basics only; other advice is required in other specific examples/situations. Again the problems this advice has been in response to self-builders requiring assistance.

Therefore CLICK HERE TO OPEN ADVICE NOTE NUMBER 6 ON ACHIEVING AIRTIGHTNESS WITH MASONRY CAVITY WALL CONSTRUCTION

Again, the Advice Note is also added into the right side-bar widget.

Again, contact me with any differences of opinion…

Also, the advice note disregards the pros and cons of cavity wall construction in the context of other building methods; unfortunately (even now!) the standard method of construction here in Ireland is with block cavity walls. This blog post also includes other products (such as Gutex) from Ecological Building Systems.
